Get The Look: G-Star Raw Denim x LEE Jeans x MZero by Melissa Shoes for Men

You heard all about my G-Star Raw Denim story. The bottom denims I am wearing here, are also part of that situation I mentioned last week. Mild drop crotch, bow leg cut in deep-dark-and-moody-denim-blue wash colour.

For me LEE Jeans have the best denim shirts within the market. This is a statement I am making not a subject matter for debate purposes. To achieve this Canadian tuxedo vibe, normally I would have paired this Lee denim shirt with a pair of my Wrangler denim – Las Vegas style – my favourite cut offering from Wrangler. One of the best skinny cut I have ever worn and own.

... But I opted for these GStar Raw denims because the wash and texture went quite well together. Work-wear-chic or urban-cow-boy, you decide.

The lace ups I am wearing are MZero by Melissa Shoes for Men. They are super comfortable, funky and stylish but I have to admit I was challenged as to how style and incorporate them in to a day to day look. As we all now, black smart shoes are a little trickier to style as opposed to brown and other colours.  

Also if you would like to buy these please remember to buy one and a half or two sizes smaller because your normal size will be way too big. I am actually in love with these MZeros I want all the colours for this coming spring summer season!

Jerri Mokgofe x Get The Look: Woolworths Autumn/Winter 2014

Channeling my inner deep-seated LOL persona; a LOL is what I call Lad of Leisure / Lady of Leisure. To break it down for you, LOLs would be a collective of fierce looking friends, frenemies or friends laced with specs of social climbers who understand the power of association. LOLs DO BEST at brunching during the day, champagne facials at the clubhouse during night and Sunday tea testing whilst spilling the T on what went down the night before the day after. This movement is absolutely not superficial at all, just as everything in life. You get all different kinds of LOLs could be; social climbers, executive, yummy-mummies, dandy-daddies e.t.c

 

To create some diversity to your vocabulary feel free to use "LOL" interchangeably with "LWC" [Ladies Who Lunch / Lads Who Lunch]

 

So next time you hear someone say LOL try to understand the context as it could be mean more than just the clichéd “laughing out loud”

 

... In any case enough about decoding made up new age socio-demographics urban tribes.

 

When I saw this top, I did not experience a head spinning feeling of euphoria one experiences after circling around a store for more than an hour until finally casually stumbling across a FIND. I took this top off the rack with a feeling of agh-what-the-hell let me just buy this top and get the fuck-outta-here. Most importantly I saw potential in it and my expectations were met and an inch exceeded.

 

I bought it in an extra large to achieve the over sized, relaxed, lounge-feel going on here. Also to make me look more rail skin-and-bones, lanky and tall, don’t we all live for that shit? This is a perfect little versatile number that you can incorporate through all seasons of the year; even more ideal for summer days as it is perforated synthetic fibres constructed garment.

 

The top has a zip detail at the back and I wore it with the zip at the front and that also works well and gives it a whole new styling dimension. Like I said before; when shopping it is all about seeing the potential in a garment and finding many other ways on how to wear it, for different occasions, seasons and time of day.

 

I can already hear you screaming; “Gawd-damn-it-bitch, where did you buy it, spill-the-juice”. I got it from Woolworths, I just looked on their site and it is not listed. Not too sure if they maybe still have it in store. Happy looking!

Jerri Mokgofe x Get The Look: G-Star Raw Denim Autumn/Winter 2014

Les-bianee-Honest I have always been a closeted big fan of G-Star Raw Denim BUT I have always kept my distance and pretend the brand does not exist. It is there, top of mind when it comes to my denim consideration set. But I always treated it like the proverbial big denim blue elephant in the room. Reason being that like any other fashion-slore; we have impeccable taste we cannot afford. There, I said it – I am glad this is now out of the way.

... Back to subject matter.

 A few weeks ago just before the G-Star Raw Night Johannesburg event.  I was invited by the fabulous PR glam-quad mafias from Vivid Luxury to come meet up with the international G-Star Raw team from the Headquarters in Netherlands and like all well mannered people they came bearing gifts.

I was presented with the most well constructed garments in fine quality fabrics during the meeting and was casually asked to pick a few items that I lusted after. Thinking about it now, I honestly regret not straight-up telling them I loved everything and asking to keep everything – I mean hellooo – ain’t no shame in the game homes!

When Aidaly Sosa of G-Star Raw nonchalantly presented me with this twinsie set [i am wearing] I completely lost my shit and I was done going through any more options presented to me. The trench coat is BUCK the pants are just on another level; details, cuts, construction, fabric, stitching, versatility, Everything, More and Beyond!

Sadly, you will not be able to shop this look and if I heard correctly, these were the only samples in their possession. I could be wrong but I can double check for you if you that thirsty for some this goodness. Possibly available online? I dunno.

What I know for sure is the kicks I am wearing are PUMA x Solange Girls of Blaze Discs Collection and are available in South Africa but only a limited quantity. They are the most comfortable pair of sneakers with a shit load of character to them that I own thus far.  They check all the boxes, when I am out on the streets!

Look aint complaining but I could get used to expanding my G-Star Raw Denim collection now. All I want is more, more, and RAW yummy denim in my life!

I have always had an obsession with turtle necks from a young age, and nothing has changed. I still love polo necks, especially in knits! This Ferrari red turtle neck situation (amongst others) I picked up the other day, and it is just full of passion, aggression and loads of character to offer the streets.

Loved this Sherpa lined jacket from Woolworths; the minute I laid my eyes on it but hated it when I tried it on and realised it did not have pockets. I was like what the fuck? I left the store with it nonetheless and you can also shop it here if you thirsty for it. 

The black coated straight leg denims are from Studio W. Having being used to wearing skinny or bow legged denim cuts for a while now, it quite weird having to wear a straight leg cut denims. I liked this pair enough to add on to my denim collection because of the wax coating finish and that it is versatile enough to work in smart casual and casual settings. I can’t wait to wear it in. You best believe there will be zero washing of it. You can shop the denims here if you want... 

This is one of the most versatile looks everyone can pull off. For the office you would add on a brown belt and a pair of brown brogues or brown brogue boats or combat boots and blazer and you on the money. I went with the gray NIKE Free Run 2 to add on a sports element to it and also the fact that they neutral coloured. The black and red accents complement the whole look and tie it together neatly. The red, white and black TOE PORN socks were a wonderful coincident, I am not that pedantic.
