Media Release | First 466/64 Store Pops Up for Spring Summer 2013

Just in time for Spring comes the first-ever 466/64 Pop Up Store, bringing the vibrant fashion brand right into the heart of Nelson Mandela Square, Johannesburg.

South Africa’s first global fashion brand,  renowned for reflecting the different hues, textures and incredible energy of Africa in its seasonal collections, made its pop up debut on 4 September 2013.

The 400 square metre 466/64 Pop Up Store will open for a limited time only until end January 2014, and will launch with the brand’s latest summer season range, a 466/64 kids range section, and a limited selection of favourite items.  The 466/64 Pop Up Store will also offer some hot spring and summer value deals, as well as specials over the festive season, giving individuals the chance to celebrate the end of the year wrapped in the bold colours and patterns that are integral to 466/64’s much-loved signature style.

“We have been looking for the perfect time and space to give our customers an opportunity to enjoy a broader and more dedicated brand experience,” says WayneBebb, CEO of Brand ID, the license holder and custodian of the 466/64 fashionbrand.

Since 466/64’s inception, the design team has been known for creatively weaving the iconic inspiration of Nelson Mandela into the clothing. “We are a fashion brand with a purpose and part of that purpose is to take forward Nelson Mandela’s humanitarian legacy,” says Chris Vogelpoel, Creative Director for 466/64.

“The response to the brand has been exceptionally positive both locally and internationally and we’re looking forward to a busy and successful phase ahead,” continued Bebb.

“Over and above our Spring Pop Up we have plans for a stand-alone store in South Africa for 2014, and,  together with our international partners, are finalising the plans for the launch of 466/64 in Brazil, Europe and the UK in early 2014”.

466/64 Fashion Menswear Autumn Winter 2013 Collection Exclusive Preview

Like I said earlier: Chris Vogelpoel slammed it off the sketch book! You simply have to love Chris’s affection for colour, texture and pattern. He can wear colour just as good he designs it. The collection fuses warm and elementary colours, shweshwe print fabrics linings, basic and a few daring fashion forward pieces.

Brand ID CEO, Wayne Bebb shared with us the worthy news about their CSI projects they have successfully been rolling out in various provinces across the country. Also emphasized that the brand is about carrying on the legacy of Nelson Mandela, amongst other values and ethos of that legacy; being giving back to the people where help is needed.

The brand has been well received in South Africa and the U.S and recently Brand ID has secured distribution in Europe and various Nordic countries. That’s just HAUTE, I say fly it high!

466/64 Fashion Autumn Winter 2013 Collection Exclusive Preview

Miss Barbara Tosalli absolutely DELIVERED with this autumn / winter 2013 collection. The pieces are; strong, bold, with well thought-off details and lavishly textured. That denim strategic branding placement is just sheer genius! Oiy, how am I going it paint this for you with words? I suggest you visit your nearest Stuttafords store and have a look at the inner thigh of the 466/46 Fashion denims you will understand what I am rattling about.

Barbara took us through the pieces with precision and poise. No poer-poer but rather focusing on key factors and pointers that addresses each and every detail on the garment. An introduction of interesting cuts and designs yet not veering to much away from the signature and values of the 466/64 Fashion woman. Sharing with us the prime fabrics used on the garments with the confidence only a person who believes in their great work can.

As you can see Melissa Maxted (HEAT Magazine Fashion Editor) went cray-cray for the pieces and was trying just about everything!
