Media Release | Marie Claire Magazine South Africa Partners with Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life

For the third consecutive year, Giorgio Armani has joined forces with Green Cross International (GCI) to promote its global drinking-water programme for communities where potable water is in short supply. The Acqua for Life campaign’s objective is to provide tens of millions of litres of drinking water to populations without any access to it. Nine-hundred million individuals are still deprived of safe, clean and healthy water for their daily essential needs.

Marie Claire added emphasis to this initiative as it hosted two events in Johannesburg to focus attention on the Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life campaign. Various celebrities joined the Marie Claire and Giorgio Armani teams as they painted water-wise messages on the rowing boats at Johannesburg’s Zoo Lake. These boats were painted in the new Acqua For Life Blue, a new Pantone colour developed by Mr. Armani in conjunction with Pantone.

Marie Claire also hosted a glamorous cocktail party on Thursday (March 14) to focus attention further on the Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life initiative. Guests were introduced to the campaign and also got to experience Giorgio Armani’s new fragrances, Acqua di Giò Essenza and Acqua di Gioia Essenza, first hand.

The Giorgio Armani Acqua for Life campaign will launch officially on World Water Day on 22 March and run until end of April 2013. For the duration of the campaign, Giorgio Armani will donate 100 litres of clean drinking water to communities supported by the Acqua for Life campaign for every single bottle of Acqua fragrance* sold.

*With the sale of every specially marked  Acqua di Gioia and Acqua di Giò fragrances, as well as the new Acqua di Gioia Essenza and Acqua di Giò Essenza fragrances, 100 litres of drinking water will be donated.
