Michelle Ludek x Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town SS 2013 Collection

What can I say MichelleLudek is just that Michelle Ludek. You know she is going to STEAL the show with her bespoke over the top accessory pieces. That is just a given. Her accessory styling is always bold and out there but never outshines the clothes. She has mastered the art form of balance.

The short falls of the stripe story were saved by the flower power story. Where the blue story fell apart and took a wrong turn, it was veered back in to the tangent by the yellow mellow story. More paint splatter, more hues of yellows combined with whites. A lick of blue used in accents and basic pieces of sequences in the mix. That would have been a home run! What more can I say, Miss Thang delivered!

Kim Gush x Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town SS 2013 Collection

There was a man in studded heels, blood splatter all over his face and a heavy leather butcher apron opening the show! Runway sweeping skirts and jumpsuits were thrown in to the mix. There were skulls and bones for accessories, Stiaan Louw-esque oversized draped shirts, tasselled vest situation and long t shirts.

There was leather in excess. There were masks - blame the perpetrators; Maison Martin Margiela and Kanye West for this fashion phenomenon.

Mesh the scary prints of Christopher Kane Fall/Winter 2013, the masks of Maison Martin Margiela Artisinal S/S 2013 and the ‘HOSTEL’ cannibalism feel of Walter Van Beirondonck Fall/Winter 2012 and whatever music reference influenced this collection. Minus 90% of everything and you get to the minimalist level ofKim Gush’s MBFWCT SS 2013 collection.  Dark, edgy and ready to buy!
