Kim Gush x Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town SS 2013 Collection

There was a man in studded heels, blood splatter all over his face and a heavy leather butcher apron opening the show! Runway sweeping skirts and jumpsuits were thrown in to the mix. There were skulls and bones for accessories, Stiaan Louw-esque oversized draped shirts, tasselled vest situation and long t shirts. 

 

There was leather in excess. There were masks - blame the perpetrators; Maison Martin Margiela and Kanye West for this fashion phenomenon. 

 

Mesh the scary prints of Christopher Kane Fall/Winter 2013, the masks of Maison Martin Margiela Artisinal S/S 2013 and the ‘HOSTEL’ cannibalism feel of Walter Van Beirondonck Fall/Winter 2012 and whatever music reference influenced this collection. Minus 90% of everything and you get to the minimalist level ofKim Gush’s MBFWCT SS 2013 collection.  Dark, edgy and ready to buy!
