Media Release | Religion Menswear Spring/Summer 2013

Remaining true to the label’s dark and deconstructed signature, Religion delve into white magic for their Spring/Summer 2013 collection, as they continue to evolve their take on dimensional, contemporary womenswear.

The definitive silhouette is soft and layered this season, with an emphasis on long lines, abstract prints and effervescent colours, evoking elements of white magic, synonymous with the brand’s rebellious and sinister undertones.

An array of textures and lengths add depth and complexity, whilst also lending an ethereal edge. Relaxed fabrics such as lightweight linen, yarns and handmade textiles are toughened up with over-dyed denim and distressed leather for an intriguing play on femininity.

Prints such as Omen, Hallucination and Pray sum up the mood of the collection, with symbols inspired by white magic such as the Aconite taking precedence on graphic tees. Standout pieces in this season’s offering include the Omen dress and chinos, which look to the stars for inspiration, the Heart Religion cropped sweatshirt, as seen on Pop sensation Rihanna, featuring one of the brand’s favoured vintage photo prints, and the Magic maxi dress in smart yellow Hallucination print.

Sequins punctuate the collection in bursts of frivolity, in the Wilt white chiffon story with self-tone sequins and leather beads, and familiar black ink and grey marl reappear for the season, lifted with bursts of optic white and smart yellow for a twist on monochrome. Summer shades including dazzling blue, and red molten lava mingle with grey mist, continuing the contrast of bright and sombre tones.

As ever, leather is a key accent throughout the range of outerwear with highlights including the Shiver Jacket, with leather sleeves.

Religion continues to expand its range, offering a broad range of colours, prints and washes for a contemporary look at casual dressing.
