Cleo Droomer for www.mrp.co.za Project Range

This is your second collaboration with Mr P, what is the inspiration behind your range?
I was inspired by youth culture and really bright colours and some awesome printed fabric bought in Paris.

Do you have any favourite items in your range?
I love them all! But if I have to choose it has to be the printed peplum dress. I think it is a definite staple for summer!

Who is your fashion icon local or international, and why?
I find that Icon is such a big word, so I try not to use it too loosely. I would say people that inspire me immensely are people like Nicholas Ghesquiere, Christobal Balenciaga and Christian Dior.

Describe your style in three words?
Simple, spirited, polished

What are you listening to on your I-pod at the moment?
Nicolas Jaar, Evan Voytas, Chrome Sparks, Work Drugs, Emilie Sande, Frank Ocean, Little Dragon, Joni Mitchell, and a lot of Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday

What is your motto/quote that you live by?
I don’t have one. I live as I feel. I try not to restrict myself in anyway, and live spontaneously and somewhat care-free. I don’t take life too seriously at all.

What are your hobbies or passions outside of the fashion world?
I love researching interesting things... ancient history especially. I’m a YouTube nut and I love theatre.

What are your top three picks from Mr Price online and how would you style them?
This one is for the girls: I would style the scarf print bodycon skirt with a lace top, pair that with the Round shades and a great pair of slipper cut pumps.

Do you have a secret guilty pleasure?
Pink energy bars... for reals.

What do you love the most about being a designer?
That I get to live my work. For me, work is never a career that starts at 8 and ends at 5... It’s a lifestyle and a way of being. I am passionate about what I do because it’s an extension of who I am, and that’s the most important thing.

P.S I kinda bought up more than half of this collection, JUDGE ME! I was tad upset when I saw the lookbook because Sandton City does NOT have the splatter paint shorts in stock and trust me I went there three times in three consecutive nights thinking it was still secretly tucked in the store room to be unpacked. Looks like, I will have to buy them online!

Short right spot as you enter the Sandton City Mr Price store is my favourite, that’s where you will find me trolloping 380 degrees cause those shelves pack some fine goodies! And that’s where you will find yourself some Cleo Droomer galore!

Avant Apparel SHOULD be commissioned to design the next future Mr Price Project Range collection! NO?

SHAKE YOUR TITS, I LOVE YOUR WORK!
