Media Release: Puma & Solange Team Up On Second Footwear Collection

PUMA have officially released their second collection of footwear under the creative direction of Solange. Building off of the success of February’s Girls of Blaze collection launch, Solange has enlisted the original designers to re-interpret PUMA’s seasonal themes of “Wild Rebel” and “Natural Calm.”

This collaboration sees Singer, Songwriter, producer, model and influencer Solange teaming up with friends Gerlan Marcel of GERLAN JEANS; visual artist, musician, and photographer Hisham Bharoocha; and Darlene and Lizzy Okpo, design team for the women’s wear collection William Okpo, to create a unique PUMA interpretation for AW14.

Using two iconic styles for PUMA, the collection is centered around the classic PUMA Suede and the XT2; a much loved favourite from the Trinomic family. Each designer approached these silhouettes in their own way and brought in graphics, a mix of materials and colors or natural fabrics to create these soon to be favourites.

The first drop within the collection, entitled Wild Wonders , features three styles and will be in-store from 28 November. The second drop goes by the name of Behind the Bazaar and will be in-store from 22 December; featuring two styles to get you ready for the holiday season.

PUMA x Solange will be available exclusively from PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town and Braamfontein in Johannesburg.

Media Release: PUMA Launches Green Box Pack

AW’14 will see PUMA’s Fast Track programme launch the Green Box Pack, a nostalgic pack of classic vintage-running silhouettes decked out in Pantone’s classic green from the original Trinomic PUMA box.

The XS850 gained notoriety in its ‘92 heyday, showcasing PUMA’s revolutionary trinomic-cushioned technology born in the early running boom days. This runner still has its distinctive speckled heel with a textured nylon upper and leather overlays. The 3M underlay on the quarter features a honeycomb graphic and colour pops in white on the heel.

The Blaze of Glory 90s silhouette boasts an air mesh upper with soft nubuck overlays. The TPU piece feature a honeycomb graphic with colour pops in white on the heel pull.

The look and build of the original ‘93 version of the runner, the R698 holds a textured nylon upper with nubuck overlays and green piping for a rich finish.

PUMA’s most iconic running style the XT2 completes the pack, with its 90s model lightweight textile upper with a full grain leather formstrip in white.

Venturing back into one of the most iconic eras for running sneakers these four styles showcase the best of PUMA running technology.

The shoes drop in store this Friday, 31 October 2014 and will be available at PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town, and Braamfontein in Johannesburg. The XS850 and R698’s will retail for R1599 whilst the XT2 and Blaze of Glory will go for R1799.

Media Release: Puma Launch States Winter Gum Pack

After the reintroduction of their States back into the market at the beginning of the year, AW’14 now sees a continued re-examination of the iconic silhouette as PUMA launch the States Winter Gum Pack through the brand’s exclusive Fast Track programme.

Back in the 80s, the PUMA Suede became the ‘it’ shoe on the hip-hop scene on the streets of New York City. A timeless classic and an integral part of sneaker history, the style was embraced by many sub-cultures and called by many names: the ‘Suede’, the ‘Clyde’ and PUMA ‘Joints’ to name a few. The UK scene adopted this style and made it their own, aptly re-naming it the PUMA ‘States’ after its birthplace.

The colour palate used for the suede upper recalls the coldest months of the year, and combines perfectly with PUMA’s trademark gum outsoles across the pack. Reworked in three new slick colour ways of lipstick red-almond, black-almond and olive-almond each with a classic tonal formstrip.

The shoe comes with a thin tonal lace and fat lace for customization options, with a rich leather interior lining offering a premium finish. The shoes are currently available at PUMA SELECT stores in Bree Street, Cape Town and Braamfontein in Johannesburg. Visit www.pumaselect.co.za or follow @PUMASouthAfrica to join the conversation.
