The City of Gold is set to come alive this
summer as it welcomes in the thrilling sound of galloping horses over
Turffontein's racecourse. The SANSUI Summer Cup, Joburg’s sensational horse
racing and fashion event 2012 proudly hosted by Gauteng was launched in style
at the city’s popular venue, Randlords in line with the announcement of the
2012 theme.
The theme, Golden Nights & Pink Lights takes
inspiration from the internationally recognised Johannesburg skyline at sunset.
Pink lights tie in with the electronic giant, SANSUI, and its distinct
association with the colour pink and symbolises the power and pulse they bring
through sound and entertainment to the event.
The oldest and most respected horse racing event
hosted at the Turffontein Racecourse now enjoys a new spot on the entertainment
calendar, Saturday, 1 December 2012. “The SANSUI Summer Cup is fast
establishing itself as the region’s premiere fashion and horse racing and
fashion event comparable with the likes of Royal Ascot, the Kentucky Derby and
the Melbourne Cup again confirming Joburg’s status as a vibrant World Class
African City and Mecca of sporting and musical events in Africa”, explained
Tourism Gauteng CEO Dawn Robertson.
The launch brought with it the announcement of
R100 000 cash prize and VW Polo Vivo give-away to two lucky SANSUI Summer
Cup race goers and the reveal of JJ Schoeman’s SANSUI Summer Cup, Golden Nights
& Pink Lights inspired dresses!
