Fashion
and fashionable living have a new address: 43- 45 Bree Street. The building, on
the corner of one of Cape Town’s “it-streets” and the Fan Walk, houses the
brand new designer home of KLûK CGDT that opened 26 July 2014 as part of this
year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town programme.
“Now,
for the first time in 10 years we have a real home, purpose-built from real
experience. For the first time in 10 years we have an office with a window! For
the first time in 10 years we have the space we need to do what we love –
better,” says Malcolm Kluk of their flagship store. The store, thanks to
architect Craig Kaplan, is a celebration of creativity and beauty.
Similarly,
the store is a reflection of the worldwide ethos that design is no longer
compartementalised but that it touches all areas of our lives. “The new store
is an oasis. It contains an edited selection of the things we love and want to
share with our friends and clients,” says Kluk. As such, KLûK CGDT is an
emporium where clients can browse wares that carry the KLûK CGDT stamp of
approval. This will, for the first time, include homeware.
Other
designers who will have a presence in the three-storey store are: Yswara,
Hemelhuijs, Jacques Erasmus, Karien Belle, Blomboy aka Alwijn Burger and others.
